We trust you and your families are safe and well at this time-
As many of you will be already aware we have had to suspend routine dental treatment at present in reaction to COVID-19. While this decision was taken out of our hands we do understand the challange presented by the air and water system in our drills which has the potential to spread the virus. We really hope this suspension of treatment will only be for several weeks, while the Department of Health work on a plan and procedures regarding the safe provision of care in Dental Practices. Owing to the use of drills etc. dental practices have been working for many years to the highest standards of cross infection and decontamination, At Moira Cosmetic Dental we are in a very privileged position that wearing masks, not wearing our uniform home, changing footwear, correct use of gloves in clinical areas (and much more) are all things that we already have procedures and systems in place for and have been religiously adhering to long before COVID-19. We are hopeful that our downtime will be minimal and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces all again soon.
In the meantime we are supporting you as follows:
- Derek and Naomi are available during the practice's normal opening hours via telephone, if you have any concerns about your dental health call the number as normal.
- The emergency number (07889694722) is available out of hours as usual, this number is for uncontrolled pain, uncontrolled bleeding, swelling and/or trauma, the usual system is in place, call and leave your name and number in a voicemail and someone will call you back- this gives us the opportunity to access your clinical notes before we speak to you!
- We can provide video consultations if you have a dental problem you would like a dentist to evaluate.
- In the current climate we can provide prescriptions, temporary filling kits, crown re-cement kits, orthodontic wax etc. to be posted or left in a safe place as necessary.
- The only treatment we are currently permitted to carry out is basically extractions. (straightforward extractions, that don't require the use of a drill) We can open up the surgery to provide emergency extractions, and we have enhanced PPE and procedures in place, but we hope it doesn't come to that.
- There are emergency dental hubs in hospital throughout the country, these hubs can use drills for a limited amount of treatments. They also will provide emergency treatment to patients tested positive to COVID-19, those with symptoms and anyone in self isolation because they have been exposed. You can only attend these hubs with a referral from a dentist.
- If you have broken a tooth or lost a filling etc. Please do let us know, even if it is painless and causing you no concern, while we may not be able to see you straight away we are compiling a list of members that need seen as soon as we re-open. Our members and orthodontic patients will be given the first available appointments, we then accommodate Private Pay-As-You-Go Patients and New patients.
- Can I encourage you to join us on social media, we will have updates on the situation as well as hopefully useful information. Also, we are starting a Business WhatsApp broadcast list and we can provide information this way, If you would like to join this- WhatsApp me your name to the usual number 02892611828. Also we would love your e-mail address so if you could e-mail us info@moiracosmeticdental.com we can add you to our mailer list for emails also.
- For any of our members who regularly see Rachael and are overdue your appointment due to COVID-19 if you have run out of your home maintenance tools (TePes or similar as prescribed by Rachael) Get in touch, We are happy to post out some free of charge until we run out of stock.
- Finally, if you are in that over 70 bracket or if you have underlying medical problems etc and you need some help getting in basic groceries or lifting your medicines please don't be afraid to reach out Derek and I would literally do just about anything to get out of the house away from the 18 month old twins for 30 minutes ;) We are in both Moira and Maghaberry villages most days with different family and work commitments and are more than willing to help run essential errands for our members.
From Derek, Naomi and behalf of all the Team in Moira Cosmetic Dental please Stay Home, Stay Safe and we look forward to seeing you as soon as we can!
Stay safe

DeleteStay safe and keep well to you Derek, all your family and to all the team at Moira Cosmetic Dental.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if this is the correct procedure but I get when required, 'Colgate Duraphat 5000ppm Fluoride Toothpaste' on prescription and have almost none left. How do I renew my prescription. Thanking you in anticipation.
